Close approach of Jupiter and Saturn

Public details: Jupiter and Saturn will make a close approach, passing within 4°41' of each other.

From Gainesville, the pair will be visible in the morning sky, becoming accessible around 01:28, when they rise to an altitude of 7° above your south-eastern horizon. They will then reach its highest point in the sky at 05:59, 40° above your southern horizon. They will be lost to dawn twilight around 06:16, 40° above your southern horizon.

Jupiter will be at mag -2.5 in Sagittarius; and Saturn will be at mag 0.3 in Capricornus.

They will be too widely separated to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
